Frequently asked questions

Ceven sets up a dedicated listener endpoint that connects to your Linkly workspace or specific links. When a click occurs, Linkly sends a POST request containing the click metadata to Ceven. Our agent parses this payload in real time and maps the data to your defined workflow. For example, if a user clicks a link tagged as a high value lead, Ceven can immediately trigger a notification in your CRM or send an alert to a sales representative. You do not need to manually poll the API for updates because the webhook architecture ensures that the data flows into your automation the moment the click happens.
Yes. Ceven can interact with any custom domain you have already configured and verified within your Linkly account. Use the List Domains action to see which domains are currently active in your workspace. When creating a new short link via a Ceven workflow, you can specify which custom domain should be used for that specific URL. This allows you to maintain brand consistency across different product lines or client accounts while still benefiting from the automated link generation and tracking capabilities that the Ceven and Linkly integration provides for your marketing stack.
If a link is deleted in Linkly, any active redirects for that URL will immediately stop working and return a 404 error. Ceven does not cache the redirection logic, so the failure happens at the Linkly edge. If your Ceven workflow relies on that specific link ID for tracking or updates, the agent will receive an error response from the API. We recommend using the Manage actions within Ceven to archive or update links rather than deleting them if they are tied to active production workflows, ensuring that your tracking continuity remains intact across all channels.
Yes. Linkly imposes rate limits on its API based on your specific subscription tier. If a Ceven workflow attempts to create hundreds of links in a very short window, you may encounter 429 Too Many Requests errors. Ceven implements a built in retry mechanism with exponential backoff to handle these limits gracefully, but for extremely high volume operations, we recommend batching your requests or upgrading your Linkly plan. Be especially mindful of this when running large scale backfills or exporting massive lists of links, as these operations hit the API more aggressively than single link creations.
Absolutely. This is one of the strongest use cases for the integration. You can build a workflow where Ceven checks an external data source, such as a Google Sheet or an inventory database, and then calls the Create or Update Link action to change where a short URL points. This is ideal for A B testing where you want to shift traffic based on conversion rates, or for promotional campaigns where the destination page needs to change based on the time of day or the current stock levels of a featured product without changing the shared link.
Ceven treats UTM parameters as structured metadata. When you ask the agent to create a link, you can provide the source, medium, campaign, and term as separate variables. The agent then constructs the full destination URL with the correct query string format before sending it to Linkly. This eliminates the risk of typos or inconsistent naming conventions that often happen with manual entry. You can even create a standardized naming convention in your Ceven prompt, and the agent will ensure every Linkly link generated for your team follows those exact rules for cleaner reporting.
Yes. Ceven uses the Get Click Counters by Dimension tool to pull aggregated data from Linkly. You can ask the agent to find out which countries are driving the most traffic or which devices are most common for a specific campaign. The agent pulls the raw counts for each unique value of the dimension you select and can then summarize this data into a readable format. This allows you to make data driven decisions about where to allocate your ad spend or how to optimize your landing pages for mobile versus desktop users in real time.
Yes. By using the Export Links action, Ceven can retrieve a complete list of every link in your workspace in JSON or CSV format. Once the data is pulled, the agent can transform that information and push it into a data warehouse, a spreadsheet, or a project management tool. This is particularly useful for monthly auditing or when you are migrating your marketing data to a new system. Since the agent handles the pagination and data formatting, you can move thousands of link records without having to manually download and upload files between platforms.
