Frequently asked questions

Mailercloud imposes a strict limit of 100 custom properties per account. Ceven helps you manage this by monitoring your current property count through the API. If a workflow attempts to create a new property while you are at the limit, the agent can be configured to search for and suggest unused or redundant properties for deletion first. This ensures that your automation does not fail silently when you hit the ceiling. You can build a monthly cleanup workflow that identifies properties with low data fill rates and flags them for removal to keep your account lean and performant.
Yes. Ceven can trigger list membership changes based on external events. For example, when a customer changes their status to churned in your billing system, Ceven can immediately remove them from your active newsletter list and add them to a win back list. This happens via the search and write actions, where the agent identifies the contact ID and updates their list association. This eliminates the need for manual exports and imports, ensuring that your marketing messages are always relevant to the current state of the customer relationship.
The agent uses the Get Client Plan tool to pull your current subscription tier and remaining credits before executing a bulk add or send operation. If the number of contacts you intend to process exceeds your remaining plan allowance, Ceven can pause the workflow and send you a notification. This prevents the API from returning errors mid process, which could otherwise lead to partial list updates and fragmented data. You can set up an alert that triggers whenever your plan usage hits eighty percent of its total capacity.
Mailercloud does not allow the deletion of custom properties that are currently linked to active webforms. If Ceven attempts to call the delete property endpoint for a field in use, the API will return an error. The Ceven agent is designed to catch this specific error and report back exactly why the deletion failed. To resolve this, you must first remove the field from the associated webform in the Mailercloud dashboard and then re run the deletion workflow through the agent.
Yes. The Search Contacts in List action is built to handle pagination automatically. When you ask the agent to pull a full list of contacts, it does not just grab the first page of results. Instead, it recursively calls the API, following the pagination tokens until every contact in the requested list has been retrieved. This ensures that your data analysis or synchronization workflows are complete and that no customers are missed simply because they were on page ten of the results.
Absolutely. Ceven connects to your product database or CRM and uses the update property actions to push changes to Mailercloud the moment they occur. If a user updates their job title or company name in your app, the agent pushes that specific change to the corresponding custom property in Mailercloud. This ensures that your email personalization tags are always accurate, preventing the embarrassing mistake of sending an email with outdated information to a high value client.
Ceven uses secure API key management to interact with Mailercloud. When you provide your API key, it is encrypted at rest using industry standard protocols. The agent only injects the key into the request header at the moment of the API call. We never store your key in plain text, and it is never exposed to the language model during the reasoning process. You can rotate your API key in the Mailercloud settings at any time and simply update it in the Ceven integration panel to restore service.
Yes. Because Ceven can read from your other SaaS tools, it can create complex segments that Mailercloud cannot handle natively. For example, you can tell the agent to find all users who spent over five hundred dollars in Shopify and have not logged into your app in thirty days, then add those specific users to a special re engagement list in Mailercloud. The agent handles the cross platform querying and then executes the list management actions to ensure the right people get the right email.
