Frequently asked questions

Ceven relies on the Stannp API to validate addresses during the recipient creation process. When a workflow attempts to add a contact or send a mailer, Stannp checks the address against postal databases. If an address is flagged as invalid or incomplete, Stannp returns an error code which Ceven catches. You can configure your workflow to either skip that recipient or trigger a notification to your team to manually correct the address in your CRM before attempting the send again. This ensures you do not waste budget on mail that will be returned to sender.
Yes. You can build logic into your Ceven workflow to evaluate customer attributes and map them to specific Stannp template IDs. For example, if a customer is marked as a high value account, the agent can select a premium letter template. For standard users, it might choose a simple postcard. The agent pulls the list of available templates from Stannp and matches the template ID to the logic defined in your workflow, allowing for highly personalized physical marketing at scale without manual intervention.
Stannp has specific limits on file sizes and row counts for CSV imports depending on your account tier. When Ceven triggers an Import Recipients action, it passes the file directly to Stannp. If the file exceeds the tier limit or contains improperly formatted columns, Stannp will reject the upload. To avoid this, we recommend using the Add Recipient to Group action for smaller batches or ensuring your CSV files are pre cleaned. Large scale imports are processed asynchronously by Stannp and may take several minutes to reflect in your contact lists.
Ceven monitors the status updates provided by the Stannp API. Every single mail piece is assigned a unique ID. The agent can periodically poll the Get Campaign Status or individual mailer endpoints to track the transition from pending to printing and finally to posted. While Stannp can confirm a piece has been handed over to the postal service, actual doorstep delivery confirmation depends on the specific postal service and the tracking options selected for that mail type. Ceven can push these status changes back into your CRM for full visibility.
Stannp typically processes mail as it is received via the API. To schedule a future mailing, you build the scheduling logic within the Ceven workflow layer. You can use a delay node or a calendar trigger to wait until a specific date or time before the agent calls the Send Postcard or Send Letter action. This allows you to coordinate physical mail with other digital touchpoints, such as sending a postcard exactly seven days after a user signs up for a trial.
No. Ceven only manages the metadata, recipient details, and template IDs required to trigger the mailing. The actual design, layout, and static content of your letters and postcards reside within the Stannp template builder. When the agent triggers a send, it tells Stannp which template to use and provides the dynamic merge fields for that specific recipient. The final rendering of the document happens on Stannp servers, ensuring that your sensitive design assets remain secure within the mailing platform.
Ceven implements a robust retry mechanism for API failures. If Stannp returns a temporary error, such as a rate limit hit or a timeout, the agent will wait and try again using an exponential backoff strategy. If the error is permanent, such as an invalid template ID or an unauthorized request, the agent will stop the workflow for that specific item and log the error. You can set up an alert in Ceven to notify you immediately if a certain percentage of your direct mail workflow fails.
Yes, provided your Stannp templates are set up with dynamic image placeholders. When the Ceven agent triggers a send, it can pass a URL for a specific image as a merge field. Stannp then fetches that image and prints it on the physical mailer. This is useful for adding personalized QR codes, product photos based on a user's browsing history, or custom account manager headshots. Just ensure the image URLs are publicly accessible so Stannp can retrieve them during the printing process.
