Ceven does not provide its own API credits. You must have an active Ahrefs subscription that includes API access. Every action the agent takes, such as pulling domain rating or keyword volume, consumes units from your Ahrefs account based on their current pricing model. To prevent unexpected costs, you can set a daily unit limit within the Ceven integration settings. If your Ahrefs account runs out of units for the month, the agent will receive an error from the Ahrefs API and the workflow will pause. You will receive a notification in Ceven letting you know that your Ahrefs credit limit has been reached so you can upgrade your plan.
Ceven can manage and retrieve data from your Ahrefs site audit projects, but it cannot manually click buttons inside the Ahrefs web interface. The agent uses the API to pull the results of an audit, such as a list of broken links or missing meta descriptions. Once the data is pulled, Ceven can then route those issues into Jira or Trello for your developers to fix. It essentially turns a static Ahrefs report into a living task list. You still need to initiate the crawl within Ahrefs or schedule it there, but Ceven handles the distribution and tracking of the findings across your team tools.
The limit is determined by your Ahrefs subscription tier rather than Ceven itself. Ahrefs imposes strict limits on the number of keywords you can track in the Rank Tracker and the number of API calls you can make per day. If you are on a lower tier plan, you may find that large batch requests for keyword volume fail. Ceven manages this by implementing a retry logic with exponential backoff, but it cannot bypass the hard limits set by Ahrefs. We recommend checking your current API unit balance in the Ahrefs dashboard to ensure your automated workflows have enough headroom to run daily.
When you use an action like Get Keyword Volume, the agent can specify the country code to get accurate local data. This is critical for businesses operating in multiple regions. You can build a workflow that iterates through a list of target countries and pulls the search volume for the same keyword in each region. Ceven then aggregates this data into a single table or spreadsheet, allowing you to see where a term is most popular. This removes the need to manually switch country filters in the Ahrefs interface for every single keyword you are researching.
Yes. You can set up a workflow that uses the Get Organic Competitors action to find rivals, followed by the Get Referring Domains action to see who links to them. The agent can then filter these domains by a minimum domain rating to ensure you are only targeting high quality sites. Once a list of potential targets is generated, Ceven can search your own backlink profile to see if you already have a link from that site. If you do not, the agent can add that domain to a lead list in your CRM and draft a personalized outreach email based on the content of the referring page.
Ceven does not store your full Ahrefs search history. We act as a bridge between the Ahrefs API and your other tools. While the agent remembers the context of the current conversation or workflow run to provide coherent answers, we do not maintain a permanent database of every keyword or domain you have queried via the API. All data is pulled in real time from Ahrefs. If you want to keep a permanent record of the metrics the agent finds, you should configure your workflow to write that data into a permanent store like Google Sheets, Airtable, or your own internal database.
Our engineering team monitors the Ahrefs API documentation for deprecation notices. If Ahrefs releases a new API version that changes how data is retrieved, we update the underlying tool definitions in Ceven. Because you interact with the agent using natural language or high level actions, you usually do not need to change your workflows. The agent continues to call Get Domain Rating, but we update the API endpoint and parameter mapping behind the scenes. In the rare event that a specific data point is removed by Ahrefs, we will notify you and suggest an alternative metric that provides similar insights for your SEO tracking.

You can schedule this to run every twenty four hours and compare the results against a previous snapshot stored in your database. If the agent detects a drop of more than three positions for a primary keyword, it can trigger an alert and simultaneously pull the SERP overview for that keyword. This allows you to see exactly which competitor jumped ahead of you and what changes they made to their page, providing an immediate diagnostic report without you having to log in.
