Frequently asked questions

No. The current integration focuses on the retrieval and analysis of public characters. Ceven can read profiles, search for personas, and extract traits to use in other workflows, but it cannot write new characters or modify existing ones on the Chatfai platform. This ensures that the original creator's vision remains intact while allowing you to use the public data for research and content inspiration. If you need to create a character, you must do so through the Chatfai web interface and then use the character id in Ceven to pull that data into your workflow.
Ceven does not store long term chat logs from Chatfai. It accesses character profiles and public metadata to fuel your workflows. While the agent can process a specific response or greeting during a live run to analyze tone, it does not maintain a permanent database of your private conversations with AI characters. This approach minimizes data footprint and ensures your personal interactions remain within the Chatfai ecosystem while the structural persona data is used by Ceven to drive your external business automations and creative assets.
Yes. Chatfai imposes strict rate limits on their public API endpoints to prevent scraping. If a Ceven workflow attempts to pull hundreds of character profiles in a few seconds, Chatfai will return a 429 too many requests error. To handle this, Ceven implements an automatic backoff strategy that spaces out the requests. For very large lists, you will notice the agent processing characters in smaller batches. This is a platform limitation of Chatfai and not a restriction within Ceven, so we recommend filtering your searches to be as specific as possible.
No. The integration is strictly limited to public characters. If a character is set to private by the creator, the Chatfai API will not return the data, and the Ceven agent will report that the character id was not found. This is a permission model enforced by Chatfai to protect user privacy. To use a character in a Ceven workflow, ensure the character is published and marked as public in the Chatfai dashboard. Once the status changes, the agent can pull the profile immediately.
Ceven pulls data in real time whenever an action is triggered. If a character creator updates the description or the greeting on Chatfai, the next time your Ceven agent calls the Get public character action, it will receive the most recent version. We do not rely on a static mirror of the database. This ensures that your content generation workflows always reflect the current state of the persona. If you are running a long term project, we recommend using the Refresh character cache action to ensure consistency.
Ceven is designed to manage the metadata and profiles of characters rather than acting as a chat interface. While it can pull the greeting and profile to help you write a script, it does not maintain a persistent session to hold a back and forth conversation. The goal is to use Chatfai as a source of persona truth for other tasks. If you want to chat with a character, the Chatfai platform is the correct place. Ceven is the engine that takes the essence of that character and puts it to work in your business tools.
If a character is deleted or made private, any workflow relying on that specific character id will fail at the retrieval step. The Ceven agent will trigger an error notification stating that the character no longer exists. You can set up an error handling path in your workflow to automatically search for a replacement character with similar tags or to notify a human manager that the source persona is gone. This ensures your automated content pipeline does not break silently when external assets are removed.
Using Chatfai actions consumes standard Ceven task credits based on the number of API calls made. Because Chatfai is a third party service, each request to fetch a profile or search for characters counts as one single operation. If you build a loop that pulls data for fifty characters, it will count as fifty operations. To optimize your credit usage, we suggest pulling the data once and storing it in a temporary variable or a database like Airtable if you plan to reference that specific persona multiple times in a single day.
