Frequently asked questions

Ceven implements a smart queuing system specifically for Moosend to avoid hitting their API rate limits. Moosend enforces strict limits on the number of requests per second, especially for bulk subscriber updates. When a workflow triggers a massive update, Ceven does not fire all requests at once. Instead, it batches the operations and uses an exponential backoff strategy. If the Moosend API returns a rate limit error, the agent pauses for a calculated duration before retrying the request. This ensures your account remains in good standing and no subscriber data is lost during high volume syncs from your CRM or store.
Ceven manages the data and the triggers that feed into Moosend, but the visual automation builder remains inside the Moosend dashboard. Use Ceven to handle the logic of who gets added to which list and when their custom fields are updated. For example, Ceven can monitor a Shopify store and add a tag to a Moosend subscriber when they buy a specific product. Once that subscriber enters the list, the internal Moosend automation takes over to send the sequence. This combination gives you the power of Ceven for external logic and Moosend for email delivery.
Yes. Ceven can map any field from your source system to a Moosend custom field. If the field does not exist in Moosend yet, the agent can use the Create custom field tool to set it up automatically before pushing the data. This is particularly useful for tracking behavioral data like last login date or total spend. The agent ensures that the data types match and that updates happen in real time, so your Moosend segments are always accurate based on the latest information in your primary database.
If a mailing list is deleted in Moosend, any active Ceven workflows targeting that list ID will fail and trigger an error notification. Ceven does not automatically recreate deleted lists because that could lead to unintentional data duplication or spam. You will receive an alert stating that the list ID is no longer valid. To fix this, you can simply create a new list in Moosend and update the list ID in your Ceven workflow settings, or tell the agent to create a new list for you using the available tools.
Ceven can trigger the sending of campaigns that are already drafted in Moosend. It cannot write the HTML code or design the email template from scratch within the Moosend editor, as that requires a visual interface. However, you can create a template in Moosend and use Ceven to update the campaign properties and hit the send button. This allows you to maintain a high level of design quality while automating the actual timing and delivery based on external events in your business.
Ceven respects the subscription status managed by Moosend. When the agent retrieves subscribers, it checks the status field to ensure it only targets active users. If a user unsubscribes via a Moosend link, that status is updated in Moosend. While Ceven can push updates to subscribers, it is designed to follow Moosend's internal compliance rules. We recommend using Moosend as the source of truth for opt out status to ensure you stay compliant with email laws like GDPR and CAN SPAM.
Ceven is limited only by the plan you have with Moosend. Different Moosend tiers have different limits on the number of custom fields allowed per list. If you attempt to create a field that exceeds your Moosend plan limit, the API will return an error. Ceven will capture this error and notify you that you have reached your plan maximum. You will then need to either delete unused custom fields or upgrade your Moosend subscription to accommodate more data points for your subscribers.
Yes. You can build a workflow in Ceven that pulls a list of all subscribers and filters them based on a custom field like last purchase date. If a subscriber has not been active for six months, the agent can move them to a different list or remove them entirely. This is a great way to maintain a healthy sender reputation and reduce your Moosend monthly costs by keeping your subscriber count lean and focused only on engaged users.
